ペルー神秘の旅路

　ペルーには、広い国土に、“コスタ”、“シエラ”、“セルバ”という変化に富んだ風土がある。沿岸づたいには無心へ誘う乾いた砂漠、南北に連なる神聖なアンデスの山々、東部に広がる原始の力がひそむアマゾンの密林。そのいたるところに神秘的な力が宿るかのよう。シャーマンの不思議な世界があり、古代文明へのロマンがあり、万物流転のドラマがあり…  　中南米の国々を初めて旅してまわったとき、ペルーの旅路はひときわ味わい深いように感じられた。もしかしたらそれは、人間の聖と俗がからみあう、風土に織り込まれた何かしらが、時空を超えて、どこか哀愁をかき立てたからかもしれない。

 Peru has a diverse landscape, with the Costa, Sierra, and Selva : the sacred Andes mountains stretch from north to south, the transcendent dry deserts along the coast, and the Amazon rainforest in the eastern part where the primordial hidden power lies. It seems there is mysterious power everywhere. There is the enigmatic world of shamans, the romance of ancient civilizations, and the drama of the flow of all things.

When I first traveled around the countries of Central and South America, the journey through Peru felt particularly profound. Perhaps it was the human sanctity and secularity woven into the landscape that made it different from other journeys, evoking a sense of pathos across time and space.
